Acupuncture Treatment of Infertility
- Some infertility is due to dysfunctional lifestyles, often between the ages 25-35 years old. Natural pregnancy can occur in these cases after a period of acupuncture treatment combined with their doctor’s specific guidance.
- Some already plan for intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in vitro fertilization (IVF) and want acupuncture assist to increase the success rate of pregnancy. These cases should been treated before starting IUI or IVF. Interestingly, there are cases of several IVF failures only to become naturally pregnant after a few months of acupuncture during the pretreatment for IVF.
- For women undergoing IVF treatments, usually there is a unique element consisting of one session of acupuncture treatment given within 1 hour before the embryo transfer and 1 hour after implantation.
Usually during a patient’s first visit, Dr. Yang will provide consultation and will ask for detailed information about their infertility issues, including medical history and health conditions. Following this, he will perform an examination of the acupuncture points and meridians on body, and will read both the pulse and tongue. After consultation and examination, Dr. Yang will develop a diagnosis (based on Chinese Medicine), and advise the best and most specific treatment plan for each person’s specific conditions of infertility, and develop a set of treatment of acupuncture protocols.
